Bio
Danilo Madonia was born in Genova - Italy to wonderful and proud parents.
He peregrinated a lot to study piano, under Raf Cristiano, at the Antonio Vivaldi and Giuseppe Verdi Conservatories, respectively in Alessandria and Turin.
As a musician Danilo enjoyed a successful touring and recording career in Italy for more than 30 years, working with some of the most famous Italian artists. This enabled him to expand his knowledge of keyboards, programming and sound design. After a period of further research, Danilo applied these skills to projects requiring both scoring and arranging. Coupled with an innate and extensive understanding of technology, he extended his portfolio of work to include mixing, sound engineering and producing.
In 1997 Danilo started a collaboration with well-known pop-rock British band "The Moody Blues" as a keyboard player, arranger, mix and mastering engineer. Since then 'The Moodies' have produced two studio albums, two live 5.1 DVDs and live CDs. For his essential contributions, Danilo has been credited as "unofficial member and producer" (All Music Guide).
Among the many artists Danilo has worked with in studio and/or in live shows are: Moody Blues, Renato Zero, Double You, Fiorella Mannoia, Francesco de Gregori, Eric Clapton, Ron, Anna Oxa, Angelo Branduardi, Eros Ramazzotti, Andy Watkins, Paul Wilson, Angoon, Gaetana, Eugenio Finardi, Lucio Dalla, Gino Paoli, Adriano Celentano, Claudio Baglioni, Luca Carboni, Raf, Franco Fasano, Ragazzi Italiani, etc etc.
Awards
Triple Platinum
In this project I've been credited as a piano and keyboard player, programmer, arranger and co-author of eight songs.
It has been very tough working with a pop star like Renato, but very exciting indeed.
InSound Trophy 2008
After having been already nominated once on 2007, the second nomination happened to be the lucky one. In fact on September 2008 I've got the InSound Trophy Award as best keyboard player. It has been an exciting night receiving the price and playing in front all the other winners. Needless to say I have been happy and honoured about it.
